What is a therapist?
A therapist is someone who provides therapeutic services to a patient for a fee. They may have a specialism such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or just work in general general therapy. Therapists can be male or female. Therapists are able to diagnose illnesses such as depression or anxiety and are able to act as medical professionals. There are many careers available in mental health, but only a very few of them involve providing therapy. Many therapists work in public health, and some might work in prison or as inpatient therapists.
