This meeting and the below blog were written back in the pre-covid days, Nov 2019, when we could still meet in person! Now that we are finally getting back to some form of normality and in person meetings are resuming – have a read below so you know what to expect.
Today we all gathered together to collaborate with each other in some of the common things that frustrate us in running a therapy business. It was our business surgery day.
The main topic for the conversation this month was the dreaded Tax Returns and being financially responsible. There were two student/newly launching therapists in the room who were looking for information for things to do when you start out. Happily we happened to have 3 ex book-keeper/accountant therapists In the room on-hand to advise!
We discussed setting up, what an accountant is NOT responsible for. Whether you should be sole trade or a company and if you can do your own returns. As well as how these can affect benefits and tax credits. We also answered questions about time-keeping, organising your day and setting expectations and boundaries with clients.
Our business surgeries are held quarterly and are a brilliant way to connect with a colleague for some tailored group mentoring.
