- About Me
About 20 years ago I worked in local government, but wanted to change to something that held more meaning for me. That’s when I decided to retrain as a counsellor, and I haven’t looked back since. As many people do, I have added a few more skills and experiences to my bow – training as both a supervisor and a mindfulness teacher. Each addition has deepened my connection with my work and the people I see, and it continues to feel a real privilege.
- What I Offer
I am a counsellor, supervisor and mindfulness teacher.
I work face to face with adults and couples, both short term (6 – 12 sessions) and longer term.
Whilst counselling tends to be describes as a talking therapy, I use a variety of approaches to meet to varying needs and learning styles of the individual before me. These can include:
Mindfulness techniques – Diaries – Creative media – Written exercises – Visualisation work
I have been supervising counsellors, complementary therapists and others since 2005, both individually and in groups.
Mindfulness training courses are designed to cultivate awareness of our current states of mind and body, in a compassionate way. Through that awareness we are able to make better choices for ourselves, and enables access to increased calmness in daily life. I offer several types of mindfulness experience and training, depending on people’s level of experience:
Introductory workshops for beginners
8 week courses in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) for beginners or those looking for a systematic development of their practice
Silent retreat days for those with some experience
Monthly experiential drop-in evenings for everyone
- How it Works
Both counselling and mindfulness are recognised to help in alleviating stress, anxiety and depression. I use both either individually or together (agreed with you in advance!) to help with these and other emotional conditions. Quite often difficulties have arisen out of particular situations or events, whether current or from the past. Whatever issue you bring – low self-esteem, life direction, relationship issues, adjustment to a health problem or work challenges – my approach is to consider the whole of you when we work together: body, mind and spirit .
- Specialist Area of Expertise
My specific area of expertise, regardless of the issue at hand, is to join you in your quest for inner harmony – reaching a sense of peace with yourself and your choices.
- Opening Times
I can be contacted at present on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during office hours.
Please feel free to leave me a phone or email message, and I will aim to contact you on my next working day.
